What counts as a portable or movable electric appliance?

A portable appliance is any item that can be moved. If it has to be disconnected to be moved this still counts. Examples of portable appliances include:

  • Kitchen appliances such as fridges, washing machines, electric cookers, microwaves.
  • Easily movable electrical equipment that is plugged in such as radios, TVs, hair dryers, kettles, vaccuum cleaners.
  • Hand held electrical appliances that have been wired in or are fixed such as hairdryers count, but larger appliances such as boilers do not.
  • Extension leaders, multi-way adaptors, connection leads.
  • Vending machines
