Solar Panel Installation in Bath
As concern for the environment grows and people try to reduce their carbon footprint, solar panels are becoming an increasingly familiar sight on roofs of domestic houses and in commercial settings such as offices, factories and farms.
BPM is able to provide an installation service for Solar PV (Photovoltaic) panels in Bath, Bristol and the surrounding area.

How do the panels work?
Solar panels are made up of layers of semi conducting material, frequently silicon. These are grouped as cells on the panel and are able to convert natural sunlight to electricity. This electricity can then be used conventionally to power and heat a home or commercial building.
What are the advantages of Solar Panels?
- They are a green and renewable means of generating electricity
- They can produce long term savings on electricity bills in a home or commercial property.
- They are clean, reliable and have no moving parts, (and therefore minimum maintenance)
- Easy to install and reduce the carbon footprint of the property.
- There are financial incentives for the electricity produced by the panels over a period of time.
As with all maintenance and building work carried out by BPM, we take full account of the age, condition and period setting of buildings prior to installation and in making good afterwards.
It may be that a installing solar panels forms part of a larger project such as a loft conversion, in which case BPM Maintence is well placed to provide a full service from design to completion.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How long will the average installation take?
A: The answer is, probably less than you expect. Once the scaffolding is up, a typical 4kW system (maximum under goverment feed in tartif) will be installed in one day. This includes fitting the panels, the full electrical installation and commissioning.
Q:Will I need new roofing or adaptations to the loft space?
A: No special adaptations to your roof are needed. The solar modules are attached to a frame which are designed specifically to fix under the roof tiles and to the roof rafters.
Q: Will adaptations be needed to electrical circuits or appliances in my home or commercial property?
A: Only nominal adaptations will be needed. A new circuit will be installed for your solar system and a meter which allows you to see the amount of electricity you are generating. No other changes to your system are required.
